In this episode, the hosts, Krysta and Traci, continue their series on Ephesians. The sisters share what was revealed to them about the second chapter, inviting listeners to pray, read, meditate on the content, then continue in this process as they continue through the series. Unity is a key theme in Ephesians, building on the unity theme from prior episodes. In chapter 2, the theme of unity comes to the forefront through our union with the Messiah and God’s gift of deliverance.

Key Points:

  • The Hebrew letter dalet (ד) is the fourth letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet (alphabet), representing the number 4, and symbolizing lowliness and the realization of our impoverishment. The ancient pictograph resembles a closed tent door, whereas the classic Hebrew script depicts a needy person bent over. • ADONAI’s sovereignty is apparent throughout chapters 1 and 2 of Ephesians.
  • Disobedience to God meant obedience to the Ruler of the Powers of the Air.
  • Adonai rescued us from wrath due to our natural condition, in which we obeyed our old nature, and brought us to life along with the Messiah.
  • Our deliverance, even our trusting, is God’s gift of grace.
  • We were strangers/foreigners – without a God
  • The dividing wall or m’chitzah in the temple area kept Gentiles separated in the outer courtyard, as they were not permitted to enter the inner sanctuary. • Once separated from God and His promises, we have been brought in (through unity in Messiah) as citizens (single new humanity)

Scriptures mentioned: (Complete Jewish Bible version)

  • Eph 1: 7 – 12 In union with him, through the shedding of his blood, we are set free – our sins are forgiven; this accords with the wealth of the grace he has lavished on us. In all his wisdom and insight he has made known to us his secret plan, which by his own will he destined beforehand in connection with the Messiah and will put into effect when the time is ripe – his plan to place everything in heaven and on earth under the Messiah’s headship. Also in union with him we were given an inheritance, we who were picked in advance according to the purpose of the One who effects everything in keeping with the decision of his will.
