In this episode, Krysta and Traci begin a series on Ephesians. The sisters share what was revealed to them regarding the first chapter, inviting listeners to pray, read, meditate, and then continue reading the book as the series continues over the next several episodes. Unity is a key theme in Ephesians, building on the unity theme from prior episodes.
Key Points:
- The Hebrew letter gimmel ג is the third letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet (alphabet), representing the number 3, and symbolizing tzedakah (generosity), giving, redemption, and the Holy Spirit proceeding out from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is our helper (the Aleph #1 and the Bet #2 equal the Gimmel # 3). (Learn more at https://hebrewforchristians.org/Grammar/Unit_One/Aleph-Bet/Gimmel/gimmel.html)
- The words “in him” or “in the Messiah” are used at least 20 times in the book of Ephesians.
- Gentile believers are addressed as chosen ones, signifying the unity they share in Messiah.
- The opening blessing in Ephesians 1:3 is typical of a Hebrew b’rakha (prayer), representing the Jewish culture of Sha’ul (Paul) that continued in the early church.
- The text clearly states that every spiritual blessing was given to us who trust in the Messiah in advance, thus we must persevere to walk in the spirit and remember who we are in the Messiah.
- God makes us holy in the Messiah; it is not something we can do for ourselves.
- Adonai intended, in advance, to be close to us.
- Knowing God is the key to our trusting Him and recognizing the blessing and power we have in unity with the Messiah.
- We can seek to know him more by studying His Word (the Bible), asking the Holy Spirit, our Helper, to teach us.
